Halal @ Saigon

We had it twice at Halal@Saigon. The food is great with quite reasonable portion. This restaurant located at Dung Du street at District 1. It's located opposite of Sheraton Hotel and also a mosque. When we entered both times, it is visible enough that most Malaysian have visited this restaurant.

On our first visit for dinner, we had ordered;
  1. Deep Fried Baby Clam
  2. Mix Tom Yam Soup
  3. Beef with onion
  4. Deep Fried Bean Curd with Lemongrass & Chili
  5. Steamed Rice

Deep Fried Baby Clam is fried without over cooking it. I just can't believe the clam was so soft and just like melting in my mouth. Price: 99,000VND

Mix Tom Yam Soup is a bit spicy and stinging to my mouth. But the taste is there. Price: 80,000VND

Beef with onion for me is a bit plain. It is not as colourful taste as we had in VN Halal(as it have black pepper to get the taste better) so for me the Beef with onion is just okay. Price: 99,000VND

Bean Curd with Lemongrass and Chili is a good combination for the deep fried bean curd which is crispy on the outer layer but soft inside. A rich-full lemongrass with chili makes it a different experience of culinary. It will be a great choice for people who loved lemongrass. Price: 45,000VND

Dinner time...

For lunch we had;
  1. Chicken with Cashew nuts
  2. Steamed Rice
  3. Stewed Beef
  4. Claypot Bean Curd
  5. Salted Egg Shrimp
Chicken with Cashew nut. Small portion but plenty for 2 people to finish. Great combination between tender chicken fillet and cashew nut using soya sauce. Price was 99,000VND

Stewed  Beef. Beef chucks which was simmered boiled to stew.  Large chucks of carrot coming with the stew give blend taste between the veg and the meat together. Price: 60,000VND

Clayport Bean Curd. Tasty. Nothing much different from other claypot bean curd I tasted before but the portion is just good for a person. Price: 65,000VDN

Salted Egg prawn. This dish is my favorite as I love salted eggs. So it must be a favorite to you who love salted eggs dishes. It is deep fried but cooked perfectly, not untill it dries up the juice within the prawn. Great dish. Price: 99,000VDN

At the end of both our meals, they served a simple dessert to end it.

Verdict:
Great place to end up your day in HCMC. Good food with many choices of dishes from Thai Tom Yam to Malaysia Mee Goreng. Food are tasty and with reasonable price. Most of the dishes are about USD4.It is worth the money spend for lunch or dinner. A definet YES to come again.

Service:
Good service from the waiter/ess. But somehow at both time we were there, they send a wrong order to our table. The ambiance is relaxing after a day out for shopping or tour. The toilet is super clean and feel very comfortable to stay in it a little bit longer. The owner, norwally will be there during lunch or dinner hour. Nice lady who will chat up with her clients.
